March Favourites 2017

This month I have discovered a whole array of new things that I have come to love!

Mario Badesco Drying Lotion

I know everyone harps on about this, but it is completely warranted! I use this stuff to calm down spots, ones that have come up and ones that are brewing, and also to dry out those weird hormonal bumps on my chin. I absolutely can’t get over how much it has cleared up my skin, and it’s definitely worth a try!

IKEA Bed & Bedside Tables

My new TARVA bed and RAST bedside tables have been an obsession of mine. When I moved into this apartment I didn’t have a bedframe, and having one makes a huge difference to the overall ‘homey’ feel of it. The fairy lights are from kmart, the bedding from IKEA and the cushion was a gift. Stay tuned for more ~aesthetic~ photos in my apartment tour!

Elf Flawless Finish Foundation

I would consider this $10 foundation comparable to the NARS Sheer Glow. I’m not kidding. Their shade range for pale skin is amazing, with just the right amount of yellow to neutral out the pinkness in my fair complexion. It has great medium coverage, a lovely demi-matte finish and lasts quite well throughout the day. It also comes in a gorgeous glass bottle that makes the product look like NARS as well as perform like it!

IMG_1837

Lip Lab Lipstick

For Christmas, my mum bought me a voucher to go to the Lip Lab in Paddington (Sydney), where you get to create your own lipstick and they make it in front of you. You get to personally create the colour, pick a formula, choose a scent, name it, insert additives like lip plumper and moisturiser – you can basically create your dream lipstick, and that’s exactly what I did. I’m in love with it!

IMG_1848

Zoella Sweet Inspirations Body Mist & Double Creme Lotion

This range has recently become available in Target in Australia and I was super excited about it! I have to say, I still prefer the original scent but this is still a very nice sweet scent. I find it works really well as a base for other perfumes too, complementing them with vanilla and sweet almond. The bottle is also beautiful, making it perfect for display

IMG_1838

Pop Sockets

I have been on the popsocket trend for a while now – so much so that I physically cannot hold my phone without it! If you haven’t tried popsockets, get on board! Phone grips, headphone winder and phone stand? Absolute win. I also recently picked up the phone holder that I have attached to my car dashboard, making my life SO much easier. I get my popsockets online and from Sportsgirl, my phone case is from Kmart.

IMG_1846

Simple Oil Cleanser

My best friend got me onto this and I’m really digging it! It’s a lovely hydrating and gentle way to take your makeup off at the end of the day. I definitely need to cleanse afterwards, and if I’m wearing a particularly heavy face of makeup I tend to swipe a bit of micellar water over my skin too, but for the most part this is just fine at melting down the makeup. Its scent is lovely and it’s a super inexpensive product.

IMG_1839

Elf Acne Fighting Primer

I picked this up at the same time as I got the Elf foundation, and I really like it! I can’t wait to grab their illuminating one. I don’t think it does a heap for my skin in terms of ‘blemish control’, but it’s a light, fresh and moisturising primer that definitely keeps my makeup looking nicer for longer. For the price, you really can’t go wrong. Also, can we just take a moment to appreciate the step up in Elf packaging?!

Morphe M504 Blending Brush

This blending brush I ordered off Beauty Bay and I’m obsessed with it. I’ve never used anything Morphe before, but the quality for the price is incredible. It picks up colour so well, blends it out nicely and doesn’t disrupt the pigmentation. I love it!

Favourite Christmas Products โ€ข Blogmas

Welcome to my Blogmas! I love Christmas so much, and the best way to celebrate is with Christmas related posts every day at 5pm WordPress time until the 25th! Hope you enjoy!

Today I’m sharing some of my favourite things around the festive season, from makeup, to candles, to skincare and random stuff.

I am in love with candles this festive season! My favourites are Merry Cookie and Warm Apple Pie by Bath & Bodyworks.

img_1601

img_1602

My favourite nail polishes this season have been white with gold flecks. My favourite formula is by Barry M.

img_1603

Christmas earrings have also been a favourite, as you can’t not feel festive with some cute snowflakes on your ears!

img_1610

I have been slathering myself in Vanilla Bean Noel body lotion by Bath & Bodyworks and I am just in love. It smells like sweet vanilla, but it isn’t too overpowering and it’s super moisturising.

img_1607

Lights and fairy lights have been helping me get into the festive spirit! I love this snowflake globe from Dusk filled with string lights as in a dark room you can see the snowflakes on the ceiling and walls.

img_1608

Considering the amount of horrible food and alcohol this month, I’ve been making a conscious effort to take better care of my skin. Every now and then I use a glam glow mask, but most nights I’ll put the Origins Drink Up Intensive mask for extra hydration.

img_1609

In terms of makeup, I have been all about the bronzing and glossy lips. Pictured are my favourites for my pale skin; NYX HD Blush in Taupe, MAC Bronzing Powder, Bath & Bodyworks Vanilla Bean Noel Lip Gloss.

img_1605

This is turning into a Bath & Bodyworks hall, but their scents are to die for. The Merry Cookie antibac and hand cream have followed me everywhere this month!

DIY Present Idea – Bath Bombs โ€ข Blogmas

Welcome to my Blogmas! I love Christmas so much, and the best way to celebrate is with Christmas related posts every day at 5pm WordPress time until the 25th! Hope you enjoy!

Today I’m starting my DIY presents series! A great gift regardless of age or gender is anything bath/spa related, so I thought I’d give making my own bath bombs a go!

A lot of recipes call for citric acid and cream of tartar, which I had neither of, so I experimented with a much simpler recipe. Of course, you can always add whatever to these bath bombs, like epsom salts or oils of your choice, but I’ve gone as simple as I possibly could! The recipe below I halved to make four big bath bombs, but could definitely have made eight little ones.

Ingredients

2 cups bicarbonate of soda
1 cup ย baking soda
1 – 2 tbs canola, coconut or almond oil
food colouring
essential oils of your choice (I used lavendar, peppermint and vanilla)
water in a spray bottle
bits for inside the bath bomb, such as lavendar
silicone moulds – you could use ice cube trays, but I used silicone cupcake moulds

IMG_1459 (2).JPG

Method

Mix the dry ingredients and make sure they are all finely ground before adding your oil, food colouring and essential oils. Mix well, and then begin to add sprays of water and mix until you can indent the mixture and leave a shape. When this occurs, you are able to spoon the mixture into your moulds and add your extra bits. Leave to set, as they will go harder with time. Make sure you use within a couple of weeks or they will lose their fizz!

img_1461

The purple ones are lavendar scented with crushed lavendar within, the beige is vanilla and the green is peppermint!

I packaged them in cute tartan cupcake cases and stacked them in a cute jar. I think this worked well because it keeps them fresh and catches any crumbles that fall off.

DIY Present Idea – Bath Bombs โ€ข Blogmas

The Ultimate Bath

Having a bath is not all lush bombs and Bath and Bodyworks candles. It’s really about relaxation, time out and looking after your skin. Therefore, make sure you’re getting the most out of your time! The ultimate bath is not that hard to achieve, especially if you follow my steps ๐Ÿ™‚

Preperation

Get your clothes ready to change into, and decide what kind of bath you want to run. Set all the things you’ll need on the edge of the bath to make it easier for you. Grab a drink or a snack and just make sure everything is easy and in reach – you don’t want to be stressing about anything while you’re in there.

Bubbles

Everyone likes their bath a bit differently, but I love bubbles. The easiest way to create bubbles for me is to buy a really cheap bubble bath from the supermarket – they don’t smell like anything, but you can fix that later. Here are some of my favourite things to put in my bath.

IMG_0612.JPG

Baking Soda & Epsom Salts

Chucking half a cup of epsom salts and some baking soda into your bath can help draw out toxins and relax your muscles. If you are feeling especially stressed or tense, having these things in your bath can really up the ante.

IMG_0615.JPG

Scent

Of course, if you can afford it (I sure can’t), use a bath bomb to achieve a lovely scent. I prefer the cheaper option of dropping some essential oils in the running water, which are also really good for your skin. I love lavender, ylang ylang and sweet orange scents in my baths.

Candles

Personally, I don’t see the point of using your expensive candles in the bath. I opt for cheap tea lights, as they give the desired effect and don’t affect any of the scents in the bath. I love lighting candles as they give a really lovely, relaxing mood. A word of warning: don’t accidentally drop on in the bath. You’ll be scrubbing hardened wax off your skin for days. Trust me.

Scrub

A bath is the perfect opportunity to do a full body scrub. I love making my own, which you can read the recipe for here.

img_0608

Face

I know lots of people who love a facemask in the bath. I’m not such a fan, because I find with all the steam they don’t really set that well. Also, I prefer to let the warm water open up my pores for a facemask after the bath. This way you’re making the most of it all.

Body Wash

Treat yourself to a lovelyย body wash, and really take the time to be grateful to your body. This may sound dumb, but without your body you aren’t alive, so try and thank it. Also, ladies, this is a great time to check yourself for any irregularities. This is very important!

Entertain Yourself

If you’re anything like me, it’s easy to get bored in a bath. Therefore, why not entertain yourself?! I love to watch YouTube or TV shows (nothing too intense), or listen to some calming music.

Relax

The whole point of a perfect bath is to unwind and recharge your batteries, so make sure you’re doing everything in there with a sense of mindfulness. You have nowhere else to be, and you are allowed to relax. Embrace that feeling, as these days we too often ignore it.

The Ultimate Bath

Huge Bath and Beauty Haul!

Hey guys!

~ I’ve been so absent recently because 1# I’ve had major surgery and am recovering, 2# university finals, and 3# boys. I’ll be more consistent from now, I swear! ~

As probably most of you know, I’m a bit of a YouTube fan ย (understatement of the year), so when Zoella released her video explaining her new products a few months back (here), I really felt like I had no choice but to buy EVERYTHING. I ordered everything here (shipped to Australia) from feelunique.com, and had a few things come from Superdrug, which does not ship to Australia but my cousin kindly sent over.ย 12166901_977501558963197_232676693_n

First off, I wanted to get my hands on a Zoella beauty bag as I travel a lot and needed a new toiletry bag. This one is from the original collection and the message is so cute and positive. I love the gold spots!

12167757_977506252296061_1580070846_n

Next up was the hand cream – a new addition to her range. It smells delicious! The packaging is also adorable and looks so good on my bedside table.

12167202_977506285629391_1139551893_n

I got this puff (or lily) on a whim because it was only $5 and I felt like I needed it… to be fair my old one was not in a good way but honestly that’s just an excuse to justify this purchase haha

12166256_977506258962727_8514451_n

Tanya Burr has always been one of my favourite YouTubers, and I was quick to buy her book as soon as it was available. I’ve been putting off her beauty products though… until she came out with these AMAZING PALETTES!

I chose the ‘rosy’ cheek palette and it’s great on my fair skintone. Just a warning though, the highlight is a lot more gold than it looks in pan, and the bronzer is very shimmery! The whole thing is really great for summer (which it almost is here!)

12166490_977501428963210_1556337307_n

I also chose the Fairytale eyeshadows – I wanted the Hollywood palette but there were none in stock ๐Ÿ˜ฆ still – these shadows are incredible pignmented and creamy. So far I’m very impressed (and the names are super cute!)

12063910_977501508963202_2015010770_n

Also, I grabbed the Creamy Madly Dreamy Lotion and the Fizz Bar (both by Zoella). I freaking love the scent of her stuff! It’s so light, fresh and inviting – subtle enough for everyday but also makes you feel like you’ve put in a bit of extra effort.

I picked up two of Tanya’s lip glosses too – in Sparkling Dewdrops (which I’m not sure is still available?) and Lunch Date.

Hope you enjoyed this post! Love you all, and stay tuned for more posts soon!

Also, can we talk about how FUCKING AMAZING VLOGMAS AND #24DAYSOFZOELLA IS?! I’m dead. You read a blog post written by a corpse. I am so excited I am deceased.
